Shares of Burlington Stores were trading higher in the after-hours market following news the company will be joining the S&P MidCap 400 before the start of trading on Nov. 7.
At 6:29 p.m. EDT, Burlington shares were trading 6.57% higher at $134.56 each. The stock finished Thursday’s regular session with a 6% gain at $126.26.
S&P Dow Jones Indices said Burlington will replace Envestnet, which is joining the S&P SmallCap 600 in place of Hostess Brands. The snack cake company is being acquired by J. M. Smucker Co., S&P Dow Jones Indices said.
Envestnet is “more representative of the small-cap market space,” according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.
