Entain chief executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen is stepping down with immediate effect, the UK gambling group said on Wednesday.
Nygaard-Andersen departs just a week after Entain agreed a £585mn settlement with UK authorities to end a probe into alleged bribery at the company’s former Turkish business dating back more than a decade.
“The past three years have been rewarding and challenging in equal measure,” Nygaard-Andersen said in a statement. “The resolution of the HMRC investigation into the legacy business, which was sold by a former management team in 2017, offers a clean inflection point for me and for Entain.”
However, Nygaard-Andersen has also come under fire from shareholders for a falling share price and series of costly acquisitions.
Entain said Stella David, who has been a non-executive director at the group for almost three years, will take over as chief executive on an interim basis.
