Rent the Runway plans to hire a new chief marketing officer and marketing executives amid a restructuring that includes cutting around 10% of its corporate roles.
The clothing rental company, which on Tuesday announced the job cuts and departure of its operating chief and president, Anushka Salinas, will invest heavily in marketing in 2024 as it looks to grow its customer base, a spokesperson for the company said. Last December, it named the former chief marketing officer of baby gear marketplace Rebelstork, Kristy Watson, as its vice president of brand, and plans to further expand its marketing team this year.
Rent the Runway over the last few years focused its efforts on the customer experience for existing subscribers. The latest marketing investment aims to grow its customer base as part of a strategy to stem losses, the company said.
