A consortium including Germany’s Rheinmetall, Diehl Defence and Hensoldt Sensors signed a contract worth some 1.2 billion euros ($1.31 billion) with the country’s military-procurement agency to develop a short- and very-short-range air defense system.
The German arms maker said Thursday that its share of the contract is worth EUR607 million, with Diehl pocketing EUR339 million, and Hensoldt EUR284 million. The ARGE NNbS consortium was set up in 2021 to address demand for advanced air defense systems.
Rheinmetall said the core objective of the project is to improve air defenses to shield forces from aerial threats.
