Virgin Galactic
shares were up more than 40% in premarket trading Friday after the company announced its first commercial flight into space.
Galactic 01 will fly between June 27 and June 30,

(ticker: SPCE) said in a statement late Thursday. The first flight will carry three crew members from Italy’s Air Force and National Research Council and will conduct microgravity research.
The first private citizens will have the chance to experience traveling above the earth’s atmosphere in August, with monthly trips thereafter.
Virgin Galactic successfully completed its first crewed flight since July 2021 in May, launching three employees about 54 miles above the Earth.
Shares jumped almost 44% to $5.84 in extended trading Thursday. Coming into Friday, the stock was down about 30% from a year ago.
