AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. CEO Adam Aron says that advance ticket sales have been robust for “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” two of the year’s most eagerly anticipated movies.

“Barbie and Oppenheimer have the 12th and 17th highest same period U.S. advance ticket sales in AMC history,” he tweeted Wednesday. “I doubt they will finish that high, but it demonstrates the appeal of these movies and of AMC. Who ever was predicting that movie theaters are dead?”

“Move fast,” he wrote. “My bet is that they all sell out in the first week, maybe even in the first weekend.”

Last week AMC said that 40,000 of its AMC Stubs members have bought tickets to see “Barbie” and Universal Pictures’ “Oppenheimer,” on the same day. The two movies have sparked an internet phenomenon dubbed “Barbenheimer.”
