India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.32%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 0.32%, while the index added 0.23%.

The best performers of the session on the were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.77% or 213.05 points to trade at 5,871.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) added 3.11% or 14.15 points to end at 468.90 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 2.76% or 22.15 points to 823.45 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.83% or 108.70 points to trade at 3,737.70 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 0.84% or 42.00 points to end at 4,981.35 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) was down 0.78% or 74.55 points to 9,468.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.68% to 5,866.40, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.35% to settle at 1,534.85 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.88% to close at 1,227.95.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.87% to 7,123.70 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.87% to settle at 9,461.20 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.81% to 972.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1115 to 883 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1940 rose and 1520 declined, while 145 ended unchanged.

Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.77% or 213.05 to 5,871.00. Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.76% or 22.15 to 823.45. Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.68% or 208.40 to 5,866.40.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.63% to 11.14.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1,959.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.80% or 0.66 to hit $83.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.63 to trade at $86.80 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.09% to 82.85, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 90.96.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 102.23.
