Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the gained 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the were Aozora Bank, Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 5.74% or 159.00 points to trade at 2,931.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (TYO:) added 5.16% or 184.00 points to end at 3,752.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:) was up 5.11% or 206.00 points to 4,240.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 6.26% or 248.00 points to trade at 3,715.00 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:) declined 2.97% or 15.00 points to end at 490.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 2.08% or 26.00 points to 1,225.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3360 to 397 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.08% or 26.00 to 1,225.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 12.12% to 22.76 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.26% or 0.22 to $84.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.13% or 0.11 to hit $85.70 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 1.25 to trade at $1,836.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 148.99, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 156.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.53.
