U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.87%

© Reuters. U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.87%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the added 0.87%, while the index gained 1.18%, and the index climbed 1.60%.

The best performers of the session on the were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.63% or 5.31 points to trade at 207.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) added 2.60% or 2.10 points to end at 82.91 and Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 2.58% or 4.64 points to 184.66 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walmart Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.73% or 2.75 points to trade at 156.33 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 1.67% or 0.37 points to end at 21.81 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) was down 1.63% or 4.11 points to 248.12.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Pioneer Natural Resources Co (NYSE:) which rose 10.42% to 237.35, MarketAxess Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.82% to settle at 238.73 and MGM Resorts International (NYSE:) which gained 4.89% to close at 36.49.

The worst performers were Domino’s Pizza Inc (NYSE:) which was down 5.95% to 341.60 in late trade, Church & Dwight Company Inc (NYSE:) which lost 4.70% to settle at 85.99 and Lamb Weston Holdings Inc (NYSE:) which was down 4.39% to 93.46 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Parazero Technologies Ltd Unit (NASDAQ:) which rose 79.12% to 1.16, T2 Biosystms Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 35.67% to settle at 0.26 and Vaccinex Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 34.11% to close at 1.10.

The worst performers were VivoPower International PLC (NASDAQ:) which was down 47.52% to 1.68 in late trade, Omniq Corp (NASDAQ:) which lost 45.86% to settle at 0.85 and Jin Medical International Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 41.08% to 13.77 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1960 to 955 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2158 rose and 1295 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.

Shares in VivoPower International PLC (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week highs; falling 47.52% or 1.52 to 1.68. Shares in Omniq Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 45.86% or 0.72 to 0.85.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 5.62% to 17.45.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.66% or 12.10 to $1,843.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.67% or 0.55 to hit $82.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.40 to trade at $84.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.06, while USD/JPY rose 0.56% to 149.32.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 105.86.
