The price of bitcoin surged past $61,000 on Wednesday, touching levels not seen since November 2021 as a bullish run for the top cryptocurrency continued.

Bitcoin
BTCUSD,
+9.67%
was last up more than 6% at $61,077, reaching as high as $61,337 at one point during the session. The crypto is roughly 12% from a record of $68,990 reached 27 months ago.

COIN,
+5.11%
up 3.9% and MicroStrategy Inc.
MSTR,
+13.06%,
one of the biggest publicly traded holders of bitcoin, up 10.5%.

were gaining 4.6% and 8.9%, respectively.
