A disbarred Florida attorney faces a potentially lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty last week to a racketeering charge involving a scheme that defrauded retired NFL players out of more than $4 million.
Phillip Howard, 62, of Tallahassee, was representing retired football players suffering from concussion-related brain injuries in a class-action suit against the league. In addition to his law firm, Howard also controlled several investment companies. The Justice Department collectively calls those entities “the Enterprise.”
