Rockstar Games released the first trailer for the highly anticipated “Grand Theft Auto VI” on Monday following a leak, confirming that the wildly popular videogame is set for release in 2025.

had planned to launch the trailer Tuesday morning, but released it early after a low-quality version was leaked on X, the former Twitter.
The immersive videogame, set in the Miami-like “Vice City,” features a playable female protagonist, a first for the blockbuster franchise.
A specific release date was not announced, other than “Coming 2025.”
Analysts at UBS ahead of the announcement said they were assuming a launch in its model for the March 31, 2025-ending fiscal year, and Roth Capital said it was “almost certain” the game would be released for fiscal 2025. These expectations are still possible but the timing means the game won’t be launched for the holiday 2024 season.
Take-Two shares fell 4% in premarket trade.
Take-Two shares are up 17% over the past month and have surged 51% year to date, largely in anticipation of massive “GTA6” sales to come.
The next “Grand Theft Auto” sequel has been in the works for years. Its predecessor, “Grand Theft Auto V,” which launched in 2013, is one of the best-selling videogames of all time, with 190 million total unit sales, bringing in nearly $8 billion.
“We are getting closer to delivering the groundbreaking titles that our audiences throughout the world have been anticipating,” Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick said last month as Take-Two reported earnings.
