Neometals said new lithium recovery flowsheet results at Primobius’ battery-recycling plant in Germany had improved results to around 93% from around 83%.
The London and Australia-listed mineral project developer said that hydrometallurgical refinery trials produced lithium flouride with a 95% purity level, and that it expects this to offer operating and capital cost savings.
Primobius is a joint-venture between Neometals and Germany’s SMS Group.
“Our original plant design now includes EV module discharging and dismantling, and has the flexibility to produce intermediate, cathode or electrolyte lithium products. In addition to meeting regulatory and customer requirements, greater efficiency translates into stronger economics for the owners of our recycling plants,” the company said.
Shares at 0733 GMT were up 1.50 pence, or 8.6%, at 19 pence.
