Social Security and Medicare, the two massive government programs that benefit retirees, are both facing funding shortfalls and questions about their future solvency. Advisors are fielding questions from clients about and we asked them how they respond. They said they reassure clients that the programs likely will be around for the foreseeable future but may become less generous. Some advisors say they expect benefits to get delayed or reduced, so they are being conservative in their projections when putting together financial plans.
