The collaboration aims to provide users with a seamless and secure experience in the web3 environment, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of the wallet, known as T wallet.

“Through the collaboration with Aptos, SK Telecom is committed to delivering a seamless and secure Web3 experience for users,” the company wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

SK Telecom to Improve Connections With DApps and Mainnets

In a separate LinkedIn post, SK Telecom expressed its intention to improve connections with customer-preferred mainnets and decentralized applications (dApps) through this tripartite partnership.

The company highlighted that its integration with Aptos would mark its first venture into a non-Ethereum virtual machine blockchain, expanding the scope of its services.

“We will also provide users with tangible value by connecting to the promising dApp ecosystem within Aptos,” the company added.

“By leveraging the innovative MoveVM blockchain technology offered by Aptos, this integration represents a significant advancement in making Web3 services more accessible to a broader audience.”

Avery Ching, co-founder and chief technology officer of Aptos, emphasized that the partnership has the potential to unlock new classes of internet experiences through the MoveVM blockchain technology.

In a post on X, Ching highlighted the advantages of sub-second latency, high throughput, and enterprise-grade operations that Aptos brings to the collaboration, contributing to a robust web3 ecosystem.

The collaboration with Aptos follows SK Telecom’s recent partnership with CryptoQuant for the launch of the T wallet.

The wallet enables users to access a blockchain-based application on their mobile devices, facilitating the secure storage of tokens.

In August, SK Telecom also joined forces with Polygon Labs to further develop its web3 ecosystem.

South Korea Overloaded With Crypto Crimes

South Korean prosecution unit dedicated to investigating crypto crime is already “overloaded” with cases as the country’s digital asset industry continues to gain momentum.

One of the agency’s first cases was the investigation into Terraform Labs, CEO Do Kwon and other executives, and the LUNC cryptoasset.

The surge in crypto-related cases comes as crypto scams surge in South Korea.

Back in May, South Korean police

shut down two suspected crypto scams worth a combined $350 million, with hundreds of victims believed to have been duped.

More recently, the country’s police also shut down a firm at the center of a suspected crypto scam that allegedly duped 4,000 people out of their funds, arresting 25 people.
