Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.48%

© Reuters. Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.48%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the rose 0.48%, while the index added 1.15%, and the index climbed 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the were BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:), which rose 5.06% or 2.18 points to trade at 45.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:) added 2.97% or 1.38 points to end at 47.87 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:) was up 2.59% or 0.26 points to 10.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:), which fell 3.02% or 2.12 points to trade at 68.08 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:) declined 1.48% or 1.75 points to end at 116.50 and Qiagen NV (ETR:) was down 1.16% or 0.48 points to 40.76.

The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:) which rose 4.73% to 7.21, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:) which was up 4.55% to settle at 126.45 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:) which gained 4.39% to close at 24.50.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:) which was down 5.30% to 97.35 in late trade, Kion Group AG (ETR:) which lost 4.82% to settle at 33.00 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was down 4.14% to 2.38 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:) which rose 5.72% to 38.47, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:) which was up 5.22% to settle at 28.03 and Aixtron SE (ETR:) which gained 3.02% to close at 28.68.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:) which was down 5.30% to 97.35 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which lost 4.14% to settle at 2.38 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:) which was down 2.11% to 12.54 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 397 to 260 and 89 ended unchanged.

Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.22% or 1.39 to 28.03. Shares in United Internet AG NA (ETR:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.11% or 0.27 to 12.54.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.36% to 17.64.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.92% or 17.55 to $1,932.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.95% or 1.40 to hit $73.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.71% or 1.31 to trade at $77.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.90% at 101.94.
