Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.96%

© Reuters. Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.96%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 0.96%, while the index declined 1.08%, and the index fell 2.01%.

The best performers of the session on the were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:), which rose 4.19% or 9.50 points to trade at 236.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:) added 0.50% or 0.60 points to end at 121.15 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:) was up 0.45% or 0.26 points to 57.62 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:), which fell 14.88% or 52.90 points to trade at 302.60 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:) declined 6.20% or 10.30 points to end at 155.95 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:) was down 3.58% or 1.63 points to 44.06.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:) which rose 1.83% to 72.50, Fraport AG (ETR:) which was up 1.81% to settle at 48.99 and Sixt SE (ETR:) which gained 1.40% to close at 116.00.

The worst performers were Duerr AG (ETR:) which was down 4.57% to 30.06 in late trade, Lanxess AG (ETR:) which lost 3.93% to settle at 31.52 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:) which was down 3.00% to 8.27 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:) which rose 1.63% to 13.12, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was up 0.65% to settle at 2.62 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:) which gained 0.47% to close at 213.50.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) which was down 14.88% to 302.60 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:) which lost 2.72% to settle at 37.90 and Qiagen NV (ETR:) which was down 2.44% to 41.59 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 445 to 206 and 97 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 14.88% or 52.90 to 302.60. Shares in Merck KGaA (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.20% or 10.30 to 155.95. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; down 14.88% or 52.90 to 302.60.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.10% to 13.74.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.48% or 9.40 to $1,961.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.79% or 0.57 to hit $71.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.53 to trade at $76.08 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 102.13.
