India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.38%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.38% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.32% or 62.05 points to trade at 1,933.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:) added 3.29% or 8.90 points to end at 279.65 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:) was up 2.84% or 24.55 points to 889.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.63% or 10.75 points to trade at 650.20 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.35% or 21.00 points to end at 1,536.95 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:) was down 1.27% or 37.35 points to 2,906.75.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.72% to 914.90, Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.42% to settle at 3,262.85 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.82% to close at 1,455.00.

The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.34% to 1,536.80 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.18% to settle at 2,908.10 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.76% to 22,150.15 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1303 to 719 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2088 rose and 1434 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.

Shares in Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.32% or 62.05 to 1,933.00. Shares in Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.84% or 24.55 to 889.30. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.72% or 24.25 to 914.90. Shares in Titan Company Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.42% or 76.95 to 3,262.85. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.82% or 26.00 to 1,455.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.18% to 11.83.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 1.45 to $1,933.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.64% or 0.57 to hit $89.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.55 to trade at $92.61 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.17% to 82.97, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 89.05.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 104.42.
