India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.37%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.37%, while the index declined 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.79% or 17.00 points to trade at 626.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:) added 2.54% or 183.00 points to end at 7,386.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) was up 2.21% or 33.35 points to 1,541.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.31% or 108.20 points to trade at 2,401.40 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.77% or 32.85 points to end at 1,824.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) was down 1.75% or 49.45 points to 2,782.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.52% to 7,384.95, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.21% to settle at 1,541.90 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.34% to close at 1,093.20.

The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.83% to 1,823.95 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.54% to settle at 965.75 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.35% to 185.70 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1066 to 902 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1919 fell and 1614 advanced, while 163 ended unchanged.

Shares in HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.79% or 17.00 to 626.55.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.55% to 11.23.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.44% or 8.75 to $1,962.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.40% or 0.29 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.25 to trade at $76.36 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% to 81.92, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 89.45.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 102.06.
