Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the rose 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index climbed 0.11%, and the index gained 0.16%.

The best performers of the session on the were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.75% or 5.77 points to trade at 215.30 at the close. Meanwhile, UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) added 0.72% or 3.52 points to end at 493.75 and International Business Machines (NYSE:) was up 0.66% or 0.89 points to 135.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dow Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.99% or 1.05 points to trade at 51.73 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) declined 1.51% or 0.48 points to end at 31.34 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 1.35% or 0.43 points to 31.42.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Match Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 6.50% to 41.59, Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.20% to settle at 91.24 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.06% to close at 244.40.

The worst performers were DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 11.84% to 6.55 in late trade, FMC Corporation (NYSE:) which lost 3.91% to settle at 105.66 and Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.76% to 174.58 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Advanced Human Imaging Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which rose 581.25% to 2.18, Sonoma Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 44.33% to settle at 1.40 and Sientra Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 41.71% to close at 2.48.

The worst performers were Baosheng Media Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 33.83% to 9.29 in late trade, Elevation Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 32.27% to settle at 1.91 and Kaspien Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 30.93% to 0.20 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1817 to 1108 and 90 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2364 fell and 1190 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.

Shares in Advanced Human Imaging Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 581.25% or 1.86 to 2.18. Shares in Kaspien Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 30.93% or 0.09 to 0.20.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.32% to 13.83.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.16% or 3.25 to $1,975.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.28% or 0.91 to hit $70.38 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 0.98 to trade at $74.98 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.07, while USD/JPY rose 0.35% to 139.41.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 103.54.
