© Reuters. U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.05%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 1.05% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 1.23%, and the index climbed 1.70%.

The best performers of the session on the were The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:), which rose 6.75% or 13.38 points to trade at 211.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 3.02% or 1.41 points to end at 48.15 and International Business Machines (NYSE:) was up 2.80% or 4.67 points to 171.51 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:), which fell 2.73% or 14.10 points to trade at 502.24 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 0.68% or 0.15 points to end at 22.00 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.53% or 0.86 points to 162.38.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.11% to 174.23, The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) which was up 6.75% to settle at 211.73 and PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 6.01% to close at 65.82.

The worst performers were Molina Healthcare Inc (NYSE:) which was down 4.12% to 365.36 in late trade, Centene Corp (NYSE:) which lost 3.21% to settle at 74.14 and Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 2.88% to 103.59 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Mesa Air Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 49.98% to 0.96, Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 35.94% to settle at 423.36 and Edgewise Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 34.57% to close at 13.04.

The worst performers were C3is Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 64.05% to 0.14 in late trade, Newcourt Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) which lost 27.53% to settle at 6.45 and iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.93% to 17.26 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1915 to 943 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2054 rose and 1370 declined, while 112 ended unchanged.

Shares in Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; rising 7.11% or 11.56 to 174.23. Shares in The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.75% or 13.38 to 211.73. Shares in International Business Machines (NYSE:) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.80% or 4.67 to 171.51. Shares in C3is Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 64.05% or 0.24 to 0.14. Shares in Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 35.94% or 111.92 to 423.36. Shares in Newcourt Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 27.53% or 2.45 to 6.45. Shares in Edgewise Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 34.57% or 3.35 to 13.04. Shares in iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 26.93% or 6.36 to 17.26.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 5.87% to 13.30.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.49% or 10.00 to $2,031.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.53% or 0.39 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.29 to trade at $78.81 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.03% to 148.10.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 103.04.
