U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.31%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the lost 0.31% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index declined 0.23%, and the index declined 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the were UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:), which rose 1.03% or 5.15 points to trade at 506.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Chevron Corp (NYSE:) added 0.64% or 1.05 points to end at 166.24 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 0.49% or 0.86 points to 174.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:), which fell 1.79% or 1.48 points to trade at 81.25 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 1.54% or 0.33 points to end at 21.12 and Dow Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.47% or 0.75 points to 50.25.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 3.17% to 93.81, Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 2.56% to settle at 829.08 and FactSet Research Systems Inc (NYSE:) which gained 2.13% to close at 435.85.

The worst performers were Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) which was down 7.45% to 15.66 in late trade, Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:) which lost 4.96% to settle at 12.64 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.23% to 244.88 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Cheche Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 31.45% to 19.52, Synaptogenix Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 30.17% to settle at 0.37 and Ohmyhome Ltd (NASDAQ:) which gained 28.86% to close at 2.59.

The worst performers were Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 59.75% to 1.61 in late trade, Powerbridge Technologies Co Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 34.19% to settle at 1.39 and Morphic Holding Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 28.64% to 36.68 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1554 to 1357 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2029 fell and 1417 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.

Shares in Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.96% or 0.66 to 12.64. Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.54% or 0.33 to 21.12. Shares in Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 59.75% or 2.39 to 1.61.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.94% to 17.20.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 5.05 to $1,944.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.80% or 0.72 to hit $90.35 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.34 to trade at $93.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.06, while USD/JPY rose 0.55% to 148.39.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 105.29.
