U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.32%

© Reuters. U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.32%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the fell 0.32%, while the index declined 0.37%, and the index declined 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 2.03% or 0.65 points to trade at 32.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 1.54% or 0.55 points to end at 36.37 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was up 1.28% or 2.90 points to 229.07 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:), which fell 1.70% or 1.58 points to trade at 91.36 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) declined 1.66% or 5.77 points to end at 342.33 and UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) was down 1.61% or 7.50 points to 458.39.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Ball Corporation (NYSE:) which rose 7.27% to 58.45, Corning Incorporated (NYSE:) which was up 5.97% to settle at 35.86 and DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which gained 3.69% to close at 6.47.

The worst performers were Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc (NYSE:) which was down 4.70% to 115.45 in late trade, Humana Inc (NYSE:) which lost 3.97% to settle at 445.42 and EPAM Systems Inc (NYSE:) which was down 3.62% to 219.59 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Scworx Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 75.67% to 0.66, Oncorus Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 69.85% to settle at 0.13 and Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ:) which gained 50.93% to close at 11.41.

The worst performers were Panbela Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 55.25% to 2.60 in late trade, Applied UV Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 43.68% to settle at 1.07 and Universe Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 37.35% to 0.52 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1753 to 1181 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2123 fell and 1427 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged.

Shares in Panbela Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 55.25% or 3.21 to 2.60. Shares in Applied UV Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 43.68% or 0.83 to 1.07.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.62% to 13.54 a new 3-years low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 1.25 to $1,969.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.47% or 1.04 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.86 to trade at $76.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 1.13% to 141.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 101.88.
