Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the declined 0.65%, while the index lost 0.77%, and the index fell 1.01%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 0.89% or 0.29 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) added 0.79% or 0.90 points to end at 114.62 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was up 0.48% or 1.09 points to 229.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 1.55% or 0.79 points to trade at 50.33 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 1.54% or 0.49 points to end at 31.40 and Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.52% or 4.87 points to 314.71.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were CarMax Inc (NYSE:) which rose 10.18% to 86.29, Generac Holdings Inc (NYSE:) which was up 3.42% to settle at 129.08 and Celanese Corporation (NYSE:) which gained 2.19% to close at 109.48.

The worst performers were Assurant Inc (NYSE:) which was down 5.70% to 123.80 in late trade, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which lost 5.20% to settle at 6.02 and Axon Enterprise Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.17% to 188.71 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Kidpik Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 93.72% to 1.17, ConforMIS Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 87.07% to settle at 2.17 and Lulu’s Fashion Lounge Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 48.11% to close at 3.14.

The worst performers were Spark Networks SE ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 62.00% to 0.28 in late trade, SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:) which lost 60.22% to settle at 0.18 and GSR II Meteora Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 34.20% to 6.85 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2092 to 850 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2356 fell and 1199 advanced, while 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.20% or 0.33 to 6.02. Shares in Spark Networks SE ADR (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 62.00% or 0.46 to 0.28. Shares in SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 60.22% or 0.27 to 0.18. Shares in GSR II Meteora Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 34.20% or 3.56 to 6.85.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.11% to 13.44.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.30% or 5.80 to $1,929.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $74.06 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.44% to 143.76.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 102.52.
