Genetic testing has confirmed the death of Wagner paramilitary group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The warlord who led a mutiny against Russian military leadership in June reportedly died after his private jet plummeted out of the sky and crashed near the city of Tver, north-west of Moscow on Wednesday. Russia’s aviation agency listed his name among the dead but officials said to wait for the results of a DNA test before confirming his death.
“Molecular-genetic examinations have been completed as part of the criminal case of the aeroplane crash in the Tver region,” the Investigative Committee’s spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said on Sunday.
“According to their results, the identities of all 10 victims have been established, and they correspond to the list stated in the flight manifest.”
