Your guide to what Trump’s second term means for Washington, business and the world

Donald Trump has named a “Board of Peace” to oversee the rehabilitation of postwar Gaza and said Sir Tony Blair, private equity boss Marc Rowan and the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will be among its members.

Trump’s announcement fulfils part of his 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which was devastated during Israel’s two-year war against Hamas. He will chair the executive board himself.

Trump’s new board includes no Palestinians or Arab leaders, but does include US secretary of state Marco Rubio, US special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank president Ajay Banga, and a US national security adviser, Robert Gabriel.

Blair, Britain’s former prime minister, and Kushner were previously engaged in Trump’s peace plans for Gaza. Rowan is the boss of Apollo Global Management, a large private equity firm.

Each person “will oversee a defined portfolio critical to Gaza’s stabilisation and long-term success, including, but not limited to, governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding and capital mobilisation”, the White House said.
