DISH Network on Friday said that Hearst Television had initiated a channel blackout on DISH TV.
The blackout removed DISH customer access to 37 local channels in 27 markets, DISH said. DISH and Hearst have been negotiating to keep the latter’s channels on air.
DISH said Hearst was “demanding tens of millions of dollars in rate increases.”
The clash is the latest between entertainment providers and television distributors. Disney and Charter Communications, which provides the Spectrum cable service, are wrapped in a dispute over carrying Disney’s channels, including ESPN and ABC.
