Alphabet Inc. late Tuesday reached a settlement in a long-running antitrust case with a coalition of 36 states and Washington, D.C., led by Utah who claimed the company ran its app store as an illegal monopoly.
Google’s GOOGL GOOG parent company told a California federal judge it reached an agreement in principle to settle claims the search-engine giant monopolized the distribution of apps on mobile devices that run the Google-owned Android operating system — two months ahead of what has been expected to be a lengthy trial.
