Olivier Blanchard is the former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund and a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington. He collaborated with former Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke to study the responses of ten central banks to the recent bout of inflation, what we know about its causes, and whether finally getting it back to 2% will require a hard landing.
In a wide-ranging chat with FT economics columnist Soumaya Keynes, he discusses his work, where the US economy might be headed, areas where he has changed his mind, and the recent tilt towards the right in France.
The Economics Show with Soumaya Keynes is a new weekly podcast from the Financial Times packed full of smart, digestible analysis and incisive conversation. Each week, Soumaya digs into the hottest topics in economics along with a cast of FT colleagues and special guests, giving listeners a deeper understanding of the most complex economics subjects, in an easy-to-digest format.
